He lived with it for nearly 6 years, and some have made it longer.

I spent a lot of time in the last couple of years hanging out with him, and to be certain, he tried to fight it - not with medicine, or crystals, or prayer - but with the attitude that he just wasn't going to let it win.

He lived, laughed & loved... as trite as that may sound... but he made every day count. Some were bad, some were worse, but friends and family made more of the other days good ones, and that's what life should be all about.

Read the rest of his story, day by day...
Some days will be depressing to read, others will spark some joy, and others still might provide a laugh or two.
David_Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02795656653475912889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651496850952600622.post-46367587503843748002019-02-11T14:52:21.612-07:002019-02-11T14:52:21.612-07:00This story is 6 years old. Most PALS think it's something else until well down the road. On the other hand, since you cannot treat ALS, or at least not much, does it matter when you find out? The only real difference for me is now I know. That helps, but not much.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13569763685182951696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651496850952600622.post-10519098005754169732013-04-10T08:32:47.854-06:002013-04-10T08:32:47.854-06:00Richard, our scenarios sound very similar. I too had a major fall while at work, and chose to go to the Emergency for my diagnosis to follow the very next day.
My symptoms started out as cramping in my hands and back. My calves would charlie horse at night while sleeping. I too attributed all of the things that were happening to me being over weight, out of shape, getting older. I sought help in identifying the cause about 4 years ago, and there was no diagnosis at that point.
December 14, 2012, alone at the hospital, the doctors told me I was dying. I am NOT dying, I am living. Now I know.

Thank you for sharing your story.TeamCranneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12661366762860134211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651496850952600622.post-59351350825422585992013-04-09T09:31:04.909-06:002013-04-09T09:31:04.909-06:00Apparently drinking makes things worse when it com...Apparently drinking makes things worse when it comes to muscle strength and coordination.
